A soldier who survived being shot in the head by a Taliban bullet stunned charity runners after he completed a 10k course – with a FRIDGE strapped to his back.
Lance Corporal Iain Maynard, 27, ran the entire distance of the gruelling six-mile fundraiser with the 40kg (six stone) cargo strapped over his shoulders.
He has since been dubbed ‘Fridge Man’ by pals in honour of his efforts – which raised almost £2,000 for his 20-month-old daughter Halle who suffers from cystic fibrosis.

In 2009 the dad-of-one had a lucky escape after being shot in Afghanistan by a Taliban sniper.
Incredibly, despite being flung 6ft through the air the bullet became lodged in his helmet – he escaped with nothing more than whiplash.
He has since dedicated his efforts to becoming a qualified Army physical training instructor and fundraising for his beloved daughter.
He said: “It was good, but it hurts now. My back is sore.
“There were times when it was really hurting but the support was brilliant and it made you carry on.
“People were shouting ‘go on Fridge Man’ and shouting my name which was bizarre.
“The main aim of me doing it was to raise money for the trust and also raise awareness, which I think I have done.”
Iain completed the race in a time of one hour 11 minutes and 43 seconds – around twice as long as his usual time.
He has raised more than £1,800 for the cystic Fibrosis Trust charity.
He added: “It makes it all worth it when people sponsor you.
“The amount I have raised is unbelievable and I am really grateful.
“Having my family, including Halle at the finish was amazing, it couldn’t have been any better.”
