Singer Colin Clyne has stunned the music world after nine songs from his latest album reached the finals of the UK songwriting contest.
Judges put eight of the 11 tracks from the Aberdeen-based musician’s album ‘The Never Ending Pageant’ in the semi finals while ‘Top of The Mountain’ is in the final.
This song is being praised by Grammy winning record producer Alan Sanderson who was the engineer with Clyne on this single.

He said: ‘Working with Colin was a 10-yr journey for me, we spent a lot of time developing a musical style that is unique and original, influenced by his experiences in America, while keeping the integrity of his Scottish roots. ”Top of The Mountain” is a culmination of these experiences, capturing not only a unique style and sound, but also a testament to great songwriting.’
Organizers of the event, which attracts many thousands of entrants from around the world announced the 2014 results this week. This is an international contest that invites entries from all parts of the world and it is the favourite song writing event of many writers from the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Asia and Europe.
Grammy, Emmy, CMA and BRIT Award winning judges include Sting’s producer Kipper Eldridge legendary producer Stuart Epps (Elton John, Robbie Williams, Oasis), Britney Spears’ musical director and BRIT Award winner Simon Ellis, top producer and arranger Dr Richard Niles (Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Take That, Mariah Carey), CMA.
Award winning country star Lucie Diamond, chart topping songwriter Mark Cawley, and UKSC winner and Platinum Album artist Natalie Chua (signed by Simon Cowell after her win) Colin’s connection with the UK competition goes back to 2010 when he gained Semi-Final status with 6 tracks off his album debut album “Doricana”.
