A paedophile Roman Catholic priest involved in a sickening child porn ring has appeared in court charged with breaching his sex offences order.
Shamed Father Barnaby Dowling, 50, was convicted in June 2006 after a police swoop found over 100 images on his computer, some of which had been forwarded to other paedophiles.
He admitted eight offences relating to child porn but escaped jail with a community order and was given a sex offender’s order.
Yesterday, Dowling appeared at Bristol Magistrate’s Court to face four counts of breaching the order by attending two churches between April 2009 and January this year.
The court heard he visited St Osmond’s Church in Salisbury, Wilts., on April 4, December 23 and January 9 last year, from which the prosecution claim he is banned.
Dowling, who had been a serving priest for 22 years before his sentencing in 2007, is also accused of attending Alabere Celebration Salisbury Methodist Church on October 10.
He did not enter a plea during the ten minute hearing.
Dowling, from Bristol, was stripped of his position following his sentencing.
He was released on unconditional bail until a plea and case management hearing at Bristol Magistrate’s Court on May 24.
