A petrolhead groom loves his motorcycle so much he recreated the bike’s tyre tread on his – wedding ring.
Dan Whitehouse, 33, enjoys nothing more than taking his Suzuki Bandit 1200 out for a weekend blast.
So when fiancee Sarah, 42, gave him the responsibility of sorting out the rings for their big day he instantly knew what to do.
The site manager, from Sutton Coldfield, came up with the inventive idea of having the tread from his Avon tyre recreated on his wedding band.
Dan went into his garage and took photos of the tyre tread before taking it to a jewellers.
He said: “Sarah and I have been together for about eight years now, but I’ve been riding bikes for about 13 years or more.
“As to the wedding, well, you know what girls are like.
“They want to make all the arrangements but Sarah said I could choose the transport to and from the wedding as well as the rings, and I knew exactly what I wanted.
“I love bikes so much that I wanted the rear tread of the Avon Viper Sport tyre I had on the back of the bike recreated and cut into the metal of the ring itself.
“Sarah laughed and thought the idea was quirky and typical of me and my love of bikes.

“I took the pictures and showed them to the designer in the shop.
“I love the look of the tread pattern and when people see the ring, they’ll know that I love Sarah and that I love bikes.”
Three weeks, and £1,350 later, the groom had the perfect palladium ring for his big day.
The couple, who met on a building site eight years ago, have two little boys – Thomas, four, and one-year-old Harry who was the ringbearer when they married at All Saints Church in Claverley, Shropshire.
They opted against using a bike for their special day, with the happily married couple leaving the church in a – cherry picker.
