A mother appeared in court today charged with murdering her two-year-old son.
Angie Vane, 40, was charged with one count of murder in connection with the death of toddler Shaun O’Neill.
She sobbed heavily and spoke only to confirm her name, age and address at Torquay Magistrates Court in Devon.
Vane is alleged to have killed her two-year-old son on Saturday morning at her home in Modbury, near Plymouth.
She was charged on Saturday night and investigators carried out door-to-door inquiries in the neighbourhood over the weekend.
Shaun’s body was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and a post-mortem has been carried out.
Vane was remanded in custody and will appear at Plymouth Crown Court on January 23.
