Manchester United star Anderson has been pulled unconscious from a supercar following a crash in Portugal.
The Brazilian midfielder, 22, was reportedly dragged “lifeless” from the Audi R8 yesterday morning and spent several hours in hospital near Braga before being released with minor injuries.
He was travelling with a friend known only as Victor and an as yet unidentified female – despite the Audi R8 only a two-seat car.
The Audi R8 (like the model pictured) is believed to have come off the road and hit the wall of a farm before flying into a field. This shot shows the white supercar, which was registered in France, suffered serious front and rear damage.
All three were treated for minor injuries with Portuguese police investigating the incident. Police are yet to confirm who was driving the car at the time.
Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias reported the crash and quoted the footballer’s representatives Gestitute as saying: “It was an almighty fright. Anderson will return soon to Manchester.”
Anderson is the latest high-profile footballer to be involved in a major car crash.
In January 2009, former team-mate friend Cristiano Ronaldo had a lucky escape after crashing his £205,000 Ferrari 599 in a tunnel in Manchester while Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner wrote off his Aston Martin DBS in September last year.
