A man is facing jail after responding to a jury service summons with – ‘F*CK YOU’.
Cocky James Whittaker was sent a letter by officials telling him he must appear on a twelve person jury.
Whittaker replied to the summons with a note saying: ”F*** you, I will not go unless I get £300 a day”.
But he is now looking at two years in prison or an unlimited fine after a warrant was issued for his arrest for contempt of court.
Whittaker, of Gospel Oak, North London, had been called to Southwark Crown Court in September for two weeks jury service.
But he was then ordered to attend the same court in August to explain his rude response, but failed to show up, and then shunned another court date last month.
Judge Alistair McCreath said: “Mr Whittaker impertinently returned the form to the court having written on it ‘f*** you, I will not go unless I get #300 a day’.
“His failure is wilful and deliberate and in the circumstances I issue a bench warrant for his arrest.”
During the first two weeks of jury service, the maximum allowance paid to jurors is £64.95-a-day plus travel expenses.
