John Galliano has been officially sacked from his position as head designer at French fashion house Christian Dior folllowing accusations of racism.
Galliano was arrested last Thursday after allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks to a couple in a Paris restaurant.
The Sun newspaper later released a video of the one-time British Fashion Designer of the Year drunkenly ranting and declaring he “loves Hitler.”
In France, making anti-Semitic remarks can carry a jail sentence of up to six months.
Dior’s Chief Executive Sidney Toledo said: “I strongly condemn what was said by John Galliano.”
A lawyer for 50-year-old Galliano has denied the allegations.
It is thought that Natalie Portman may take up the position of brand ambassador.
