A hapless police officer has become an unlikely internet star after dashcam footage of him slipping over in the snow went viral.
The Derbyshire Police officer was on patrol on Sunday (10/12) night when he came across an abandoned car on Beeley Moor in the Peak District.
Dashcam from his own patrol car captured the moment the officer walks across to check the vehicle but suddenly slips over in the snow.
The officer then falls over and lands on his backside before struggling to his feet and bursting into laughter.
The police force posted the video on their Twitter page, warning motorists to be careful when walking on the snow and ice.
They wrote: “It seems our officer’s little slip up in the snowy Peak District is attracting a bit of a giggle.
“The officer – a member of our Armed Response Unit – was checking out an abandoned vehicle near Beeley in the early hours of Monday morning when things went belly up.
“He’s ok, he’s laughing.”
Within 24 hours the video was viewed and shared more than 10,000 times across the world.
Facebook user Graham Bunt said: “Brilliant response from the copper in the snow. Must have tripped over the thin blue line!”
