The 32-year-old Easyjet pilot is snapped in a series of shots alongside beautiful Holly Hill, 23, a Miss West Sussex winner and Miss Great Britain hopeful.
He was among four skiers who died in the tragedy at the resort of Val d’Isere on Tuesday morning.
James was skiing with a group of seven people when the accident happened at Pont St Charles, a popular area at around an altitude of 8,800 feet.
Devastated Holly led tributes on her Facebook page, where she wrote ”RIP my beautiful boy xx”.
She posted dozens of pictures on the site, including the pair taking part in a photo shoot in a series of wedding shots.
Others posted on the social networking site in tribute to James, who they described as a ”great bloke” and a ”true gentleman”.
Bambos Antoniou wrote: ”Such a positive man. His memory is untouchable, I’m sure he is in a better place with loved ones.”
James Ashby added: ”I’m so sorry to have heard the sad news. James will be sorely missed. A true gentlemen.”
Jewels Bushnell said: ”He was always doing what he loved. He will forever be in our hearts.”
James, who was a keen windsurfer, is the third Briton to have died this season in the French Alps.
He is the son of Sue and Dave Whalley, owner of Target Auto Parts Ltd, who live on the Channel Island of Guernsey. His parents are thought to have yesterday flown to the French resort.
