A man needed emergency medical treatment and nearly fell into a coma – after eating TORTILLA CHIPS.
Ken Maidment, 63, suffered a severe allergic reaction to the sour cream and onion Tesco snack while watching football at home.
The father-of-one began struggling to breath and his face swelled up as he went into anaphylactic shock.

His wife dialled 999 and paramedics administered a shot of adrenalin before rushing Ken to hospital, where doctors say he was seconds away from falling into a coma.
Campsite owner Ken, of Penzance, Cornwall, said: “My mouth started burning, then my throat, and then an hour or so later my breathing was very short and my voice had practically gone.
“I knew I was shutting down. I knew I was on the brink. I won’t eat that kind of thing any more. Tortilla chips won’t be on the shopping list again.”
His wife, Glynis, 64, added: “He was blowing up like a balloon. Looking back on it now, it really was a life-or-death situation. They said it was two minutes to comatose.”
A letter from Tesco to the couple said: ”I can appreciate how distressing this must have been, please accept our sincere apologies for the upset caused.”
The company said it could not investigate properly because the couple had not sent in the packaging or contents of product.
