A fashion student died after she suffered a fatal asthma attack caused by a gust of warm air inside a pub.
Sarah Carter-Edwards, 21, had trudged through near-freezing weather to meet friends for a night out on December 1.
When she entered the building the sudden rush of warm air triggered an asthma attack and Sarah collapsed.
Her pals frantically dialled 999 and Sarah was rushed from The Hippodrome in Market Drayton, Shrops., to nearby Princess Royal Hospital.
But despite desperate attempts to revive her she was pronounced dead shortly after being brought in by paramedics.
Yesterday, heartbroken dad Malcolm Carter, a company director, paid a moving tribute to the daughter he described as a ‘best friend’.
He said: “She had a fatal asthma attack. It’s a tragic loss because she’d had two little scares in the past but nothing that alerted us that this could happen.
“She went into town and arrived at The Hippodrome.
“It was the cold air she’d breathed in and when she got into the warmth of the pub it seems to have triggered the asthma attack.
“No words can do justice to her. We were exceptionally close.
“She was my best friend and we would do everything together. She was wise beyond her years and always said and did the right thing. She was a charming, kind and compassionate young lady with a lovely nature.
“In her short life she had achieved so much and touched the hearts of so many people.
“There is a huge void in our lives and Sarah will be greatly missed by everyone.”
Mr Carter, from Tyrley, Shrops., founder of heating firm Shropshire Gas, added that Manchester Metropolitan University student Sarah had been on a gap year before her final year of study.
He added that there would be no inquest in to Sarah’s death but thanked the emergency services for their efforts to save her.
Devastated pals also paid tributes to the popular student on Facebook.
Dawn Paterson wrote: “Sad to see you are no longer with us, RIP, you were an amazing, friendly cheerful young woman and you will be missed by your friends and family xx”
While another pal Sophie Hardy added: “It doesn’t feel real, it never will. You had a huge effect on all of us, so many happy memories. I feel so lucky to have known you and you’ll never be forgotten.”
Sarah’s mother Karen Edwards and sister Katie Edwards live in Newport, Wales.
Her funeral takes place on December 21 in Cheswardine, Shrops.
This is so sad 🙁 It is always heartbreaking to hear someone died from asthma. I have had two life threatening attacks and they were they most painful experiences of my life. I had no idea that an asthma attack can be triggered without any early symptoms. My heart goes out to Sarah family, may he rest in peace.
