A drug dealer who sold pills to a dad who tragically died of an overdose just hours later boasted about the transaction on FACEBOOK, a court heard.
Leeann Douglass, 25, took to the social networking site to brag that she had just sold Christopher Vanes 20 diazepam tablets.
Tragic Christopher, 29, was later found dead at his home, where the tranquilisers were found to be one of a cocktail of drugs he had taken.
Police investigating his death discovered the Facebook post and swiftly arrested Douglass, who was handed 22 months behind bars after pleading guilty to supplying.
Christopher’s sister, Joanne Vanes, welcomed the sentence and said she hoped the punishment served as an example.
She said: “I’m happy with the outcome.
“The coroner said no-one ever gets punished, and it is so sad so I hope she serves as an example.”
Teesside Crown Court heard Christopher was found dead at his flat in Seaton Carew, Hartlepool, on April 3 last year.
Police discovered he had bought 20 tablets from Douglass that day – tracked back through her Facebook posts.
She was arrested and released on bail, where officers caught her with 296 of the pills at her home, alongside some skunk cannabis, in May.
They also seized mobile phones which contained text messages that showed she was involved in dealing.
Douglass, of Hartlepool, was re-bailed again, but another search of her home on August 27 found her with a tub containing 1,582 diazepam pills.
When police attempted to arrest her once more Douglass was abusive, and bit an officer.
Rachel Masters, prosecuting, said the diazepam may have added to the toxicity of the drugs in Christopher’s system, leading to his death.
Douglass pleaded guilty to one count of supplying a class C drug, three of possessing diazepam with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of diazepam between March 25 and May 6 last year.
