A man dressed as Star Wars character Darth Vader has been caught on CCTV robbing a bank in New York.
Sporting Darth Vader’s mask and cape and a pair of camouflage trousers, the 6ft-plus ‘phantom menace’ demanded the cashier hand over the money while holding a semi-automatic pistol.
The employee complied with the robber’s demands and gave him cash from the drawer with Darth fleeing though a parking lot after punching a have-a-go hero who tried to prevent his exit.
Police have admitted it’s going to be difficult to track down Darth Vader due to his disguise but he should expect to ‘feel the force’ of the law if he’s captured.
It’s the latest in a line of strange robberies which have gripped the New York area following a man who used a bouquet of flowers to rob a bank in Manhattan.
Dubbed the ‘bouquet bandit’, the suspect handed over the flowers with a note that read: “Give me all your $100s, $50s. Don’t be a hero.”
And a woman, concealing her face with a cat mask, is suspected of robbing shoe and skin care product shops in Manhattan.
