A manufacturer of process plant equipment was celebrating today after receiving accreditation from the U.S. for its pressure vessels.
Charles Thompson Ltd (CTL) said it was the first time in its history that it had received recognition from ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) VIII Div 2 ‘U2’ stamp for its machines.
The firm supplies essential processing items to oil rigs, nuclear plants, and pharmaceutical factories among others.
The Div 2 ‘U2’ international certification shows that CTL is able to meet more demanding requirements on materials, design, and nondestructive testing than those in Division 1.
CTL, which works with companies in the oil & gas, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors, also passed its renewal audit for the ASME VIII Div 1 ‘U’ stamp, which it has held for around 30 years.
Technical Director Peter Coe said: ‘We’re very pleased to have achieved it now, though we’ve had the capability to meet the requirements of the Div 2 ‘U2’ stamp for some time.
‘It will reassure our customers that we can deliver fabrications to international standards, and will help us continue to work on essential and ground-breaking projects around the world.’
In recent months CTL has been awarded ISO 3834-2 certification for welding and fabrication, and has invested in a new purpose built clean room facility at its Rotherham, UK headquarters, including additional investment into automatic welding equipment.
