A crazed chef who tried to EAT a police officer by munching down on his ARM has been jailed for nine months.
Jose Abrunhosa, 26, sank his teeth into the cop as he tried to restrain him after he responded to reports of a loud argument at his home.
A court heard the officer, from Northamptonshire Police, suffered a 5cm wide bruise to his left arm and will be left scarred for life.
On Monday Abrunhosa was jailed for nine months when he appeared at Northampton Crown Court where he admitted assault.
Prosecutor David Lee told the court: “Mr Abrunhosa ran out into his garden and was chased by the police officer who tried to restrain him.
“The officer was pushed backwards by Abrunhosa and fell on to a fridge which had been left in the garden.
“The officer was then punched by Abrunhosa who then grabbed hold of his left arm with his teeth.
“The defendant held on to the arm for 10 seconds and moved his mouth back and forth to try and cause as much injury as possible.”
Abrunhosa, who worked as a chef in Cambridge but lived in Thorplands, Northants., was eventually overpowered by the police officer with help from his colleague and was arrested.
Mr Lee said Abrunhosa admitted in interview that he “tried to take a chunk out of the police officer’s arm.”
He said Abrunhosa felt the police officers had “no right to be at his home address.”
The police officer suffered a 5cm wide bruise to his arm and is likely to have a permanent scar.
He will have to wait to find out if the wound has been infected.
Recorder Adrian Redgrave QC, told Abrunhosa it was a “shocking” attack on a police officer doing his public service.
