Outspoken Charlotte Church has never been one to shy away from controversy and has now taken aim at Her Majesty The Queen, branding her an ‘old woman’ with ‘no idea what’s going on’.
In an interview with Esquire magazine, the singer said: “I’ve met her about seven times and she never remembers me.
“When you get close to her you realise she’s an old woman and has no idea what’s going on.
“I feel really sorry for her. She probably doesn’t want to be wheeled out at every Royal Variety Performance to watch scantily-clad dancers and sh***y comedians.”
The singer, 24, has never been afraid to take a pop at authority, and also revealed how she confronted ex Prime Minister Tony Blair as a teenager.
She recalled: “I said to him, ‘I’ve been paying 40% tax since I was 12 and yet I can’t vote. Explain that.’ He couldn’t and just changed the subject.”
Charlotte, who appeared as a judge on TV talent show Over The Rainbow, told how she’d love to become an X Factor judge but doesn’t believe Simon Cowell would let her on.
She said: “I’d make a better judge than the others. But he wouldn’t be able to control me, so he’d never have me on.”
