Britney Spears releases official statement rebuffing domestic abuse claims

Britney Spears has hit back at claims made by her ex-husband in a US tabloid that her current boyfriend hit her.

Jason Alexander, who was famously married to Britney for a mere 55 hours after the pair drunkenly wed in Las Vegas, told American magazine Star that Britney had confided in him she was suffering abuse at the hands of new boyfriend Jason Trawick.

Britney’s ex claimed Trawick “hit her so hard it gave her a black eye,” and claimed to be “really concerned” for her welfare.

A recording of a supposed conversation between the pair also appeared on Radar Online, with a voice alleged to be Britney’s saying “he beat on me,” and “My dad has a shotgun and he’s just waiting to use it.”

However, voice experts stated the recording was not of Britney, and the singer later released an official statement via her website denying all claims.

It says: “Every aspect of the story published by Star magazine is completely and utterly false and Star magazine was informed of the falsity of this story before it was published.”

The audio recordings are described as “so obviously fake as to be laughable,” and the statement says Britney has had no contact with Alexander for years and that Trawick “has never laid a hand” on her.

Britney also took to her Twitter account to slam the claims, posting a message saying: “Star Magazine, Radar Online, Jason Alexander and the rest of you liars, Y’all can kiss m lily white southern Louisiana ass!”

She also told her followers she was off on a romantic weekend break with her boyfriend.
