Britain’s oldest goldfish is in mourning after his lifelong tank companion died – aged 35.
Splish and Splash were won at a funfair in 1977 and have lived together at their owners’ home in Brockworth, Glos., ever since.
But Splish has finally gone belly-up – leaving Splash alone in his tank for the first time in over three decades.
Richard and Ann Wright have been caring for the pair since their children Hayley and Matthew won them at a funfair in Cheltenham, Glos.
Retired human resources consultant Richard, 68, said: ”It was actually quite sad to see him go, because we’d known him for so long.”
Splash is believed to be Britain’s oldest living goldfish, but it still has a long way to go to beat world record holder Tish the tiddler, who had its chips in 2005 aged 43.
