Britain’s Got Talent woman missing from home

A disorientated woman who once starred on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ is at the centre of a police hunt after she went missing from her home.

Thelma Townsend, 62, and husband Don, 68, captured the hearts of the nation when they performed their whistling and dancing double act in 2007.

But Thelma began ”acting out of character” following a serious fall last year and was being undergoing treatment as an outpatient.

Grandmother-of-two Thelma disappeared from her home in Bishopsworth, Bristol, at 6pm on Saturday and hasn’t been seen since.

Husband Don and their only son Danny, 37, have scoured the city day and night whilst police yesterday (Mon) launched an appeal to find her.

Danny said: ”Mum disappeared on Saturday. She has been acting out of character ever since the fall and me and dad have struggled to look after her.

”Since she went missing we have been searching for her night and day but we haven’t had any sightings.

”We are very worried for her safety and welfare but we are hoping that someone might still recognise her from Britain’s Got Talent.

”With dad whistling and mum dancing they got through the auditions but it was very embarrassing for me.”

Former Marks and Spencer shopworker Thelma enjoyed 15 minutes of fame in June 2007 when she and retired insurance salesman Don performed on Britain’s Got Talent.

The pair wowed judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan with a performance where Don whistled to music while Thelma performed a bizarre dance.

However, despite massive support from the audience the pair were unanimously voted off the show by judges.

In July last year Thelma injured her head in a fall from the roof of a boat while on a trip to the Isle of Wight with Don celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.

She has acted out of character since the accident and was recently taken under observation at Callington Road Hospital in Bristol.

Thelma disappeared from her home at 6pm on Saturday and police are now appealing for anyone who has seen her to come forward.

Thelma, who is around 5ft 5ins tall, was last seen wearing a pink top and grey trousers, however, she may also be wearing a waist-length brown jacket.
