The 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year shortlist has been released with champion jockey Tony McCoy the early bookies’ favourite.
McCoy, who won this year’s Grand National at the 15th time of asking is 8/11 odds-on favourite with William Hill.
The Irish jockey, who has ridden more than 3,000 winners in a stunning career, is facing competition from golfer Graeme McDowell – the first European to win the US Open in 40 years when he was victorious at Pebble Beach in June.
McDowell is available at 9/2 with fellow golfer Lee Westwood third-favourite at 8/1. After a brilliantly consistent season, Westwood overtook Tiger Woods to be the world’s number one golfer.
Making up the list is cyclist Mark Cavendish, athlete Jessica Ennis, cricketer Graeme Swann, boxer David Haye, darts legend Phil Taylor, Winter Olympian Amy Williams and double Commonwealth gold-winning diving sensation Tom Daley.
