Baker Jean Swatman is rolling in a £2 million lottery fortune after breaking her routine and buying her ticket from a different shop.
The 62 year-old widow always got her weekly punt from the Morrisons supermarket where she works making donuts.
But when she went home sick she picked up two lucky dip tickets from a Premier store instead.
The stunned mother-of-two checked her numbers on June 2 the day after the draw – and discovered she had hit a £2,021,379 jackpot.
Grandmother Jean, who works four mornings a week in the bakery, planned to go straight back to work after the win.
But daughter Kerry-Anne Utting stopped her in her tracks – by putting her works shoes in the BIN.
Jean’s boss has also given her the week off so she can come to terms with her win and decide if she wants to return to work.
She said: “I haven’t really thought about going back to work or not. I haven’t made my mind up. I like the people I work with and I just like going really.
“My daughter said ‘Are you going back to work?’ and I said ‘I will probably have a few weeks off’.
“They all kept laughing and she put my shoes in the bin. They are still out there in the back garden.”
Jean, whose husband Ben died from a heart attack six years ago, added: “I checked the ticket three times and couldn’t believe it.
“I had to drive over to my brother and told him to check it. His partner Sally looked at it and said ‘Oh my God. Do you realise how much you have won?.’
“I don’t think it really sank in straight away. I phoned my son in Vietnam and woke him up and he didn’t believe me either.
“I phoned my daughter at work and she just screamed down the phone.”
Jean, who has worked for Morrisons in her hometown of Lowestoft, Suffolk for 10 years, has no plans to leave her three-bedroom terraced home.
Instead she is going to pay off her mortgage and redecorate and spoil her family with her fortune.
She is also going to swap her 12-year-old Mercedes for a new £20,000 Vauxhall Antara.
And she will treat herself to business class flights when she visits her son Wayne in Vietnam in September.
