Radio breakfast DJ Chris Evans was on the crest of a wave today as he enjoyed his first ever surf lesson.
Chris, 44, spent more than two hours trying to ride the breaking waves at a beach in Looe, Cornwall.
The BBC presenter took his lesson under the watchful eye of professional instructor Sam Lamiroy.
Chris was joined by Jonny ‘Sports’ Saunders, who reads the sports news on his Radio 2 breakfast show.
But despite his efforts to ”catch a tube”, the multi-millionaire spent most of his time falling off the board and crashing into the sea.
He said: ”I’ve often thought about surfing – and where better to start than Cornwall?
”Under Sam’s expert guidance Jonny and I learned how to paddle, catch a wave and, eventually, stand upright.”
Chris took the surf lesson ahead of his live breakfast broadcast from Cornwall.
He was invited down to the county by TV’s Richard Madeley, who has a home at nearby Talland Bay with wife Judy Finnegan.
