Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner’s rambling Brits speech was today voted among the most memorable of all time.
The singer used his acceptance speech for the Best British Album award to hail the resurgence of rock and roll.
After leaving millions of viewers baffled, he then dropped the microphone on the stage and told organisers to “invoice me for it”.

The speech catapulted Turner into the top five most memorable speeches of all time in a poll of 1,000 Brits carried out yesterday.
Former This Morning host Judy Finnigan flashing the nation her grey bra while accepting a National Television Award in 2000 took the top spot.
A spokesman for global market researchers www.OnePoll.com, which carried out the poll, said: ”With many of the award shows, it’s the speeches which make up a large number of the memorable moments.
”A lot of people watching the Brits found the Arctic Monkeys’ speech strange – there were more than a few viewers wondering what he was talking about, and many took to social media to comment on it.

”Despite it being 14 years ago, everyone still recalls the moment John Leslie rushed up from the audience to try and spare her blushes.”

Gwyneth Paltrow’s sobs while accepting her best actress Oscar in 1999 for her role in the film Shakespeare in Love came third followed by Kate Winslet’s, near hysterical speech at the 2009 Golden Globes came fourth.
