A pretty model cheated death after her jealous lover repeatedly stabbed her in the HEAD with a Rambo-style hunting knife, a court heard.
Scott Smith, 21, knifed Kirsty Holmes six or seven times with a large blade as she lay in bed, narrowly missing her arteries and spinal cord.
He has admitted wounding with intent to cause serious harm but denies attempted murder.
Worcester Crown Court heard Smith attacked Kirsty at 3.30am on January 16 after a night out with pals.
After the attack terrified Kirsty, 20, was rushed to hospital where she needed dozens of stitches.
Gareth Walters, prosecuting, told the court Smith had become ”increasingly jealous” of Kirsty.
He added: ”The brutal assault was the culmination of Smith’s turbulent and violent relationship with Kirsty.
”Smith disliked her talking to other men or wearing short skirts, and they had split up several times.”
The court heard the couple first met when Kirsty, an aspiring model, was 17.
Mr Walters told the court Smith had previously pulled out a knife on Kirsty but her friends had wrestled it off him.
On another occasion, he visited her home in Warndon, Worcester, where Kirsty lived with her parents, and threatened to stab himself.
On the night of the brutal stabbing, Kirsty, a shop assistant, was sleeping with Scott at his parents’ house.
After the attack Smith’s parents dialled 999 and he was arrested. Police found the blood-stained knife in the bedroom.
When questioned by his father, Smith replied: ”I had just had enough.”
When he was quizzed by officers Smith claimed that he had drunk 15 pints of lager, two glasses of champagne and several shots.
The trial continues.
