Hundreds of flag-waving partygoers will flock to one of the biggest Royal Wedding celebrations in the country – on the new £39million Grand Pier at Weston-Super-Mare.
The state-of-the-art pier, which re-opened last year following a devastating blaze in 2008, will host a huge fancy dress knees-up to mark the nuptials of Wills and Kate.
The first 100 revellers to arrive before 6am at the huge Somerset seaside structure – which features a rollercoaster and Go Kart track – will get a free wedding breakfast.
Television crews will also be filming the excitable crowds from the south deck of the 105-year-old pier and the wedding ceremony is to be broadcast on big outdoor screens.
Kerry Michael, owner of the Grand Pier, said: ”We have the perfect setting on the Grand Pier for a giant street party, whatever the weather.
”We want people to come along and enter our fancy dress competition and enjoy the attractions, on what is really an extra day off for the whole country.
”Many of our older visitors will be able to remember the Queen’s Jubilee parties and the street parties to celebrate the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer but some younger people will have never attended a street party before.
”We are determined to show them how it’s done.”
It’s really pleasant to walk on the pier.
