A semi-detached family home is on the market – with the ultimate MAN CAVE included.
Dave Kemp and partner Susan Dixon, both 50, bought the four-bed property in 2000 and a few years later he set about constructing his retreat.
The 25ft wide chalet at the bottom of their garden took six months and about £10,000 to build and kit out.
It has a bar, pool table, jukebox and plasma TV and outdoor decking and the interior is clad and wood and fully insulated with electric heating and lighting.
But the couple, who have two older daughters and a son, are selling up and moving to Cornwall – where Dave is hoping to build a new ‘man cave‘.
Dave, a snooker table seller, said: “I enjoyed doing it; it was great fun.
“We had a big garden and it’s nice to have a games room and a place to entertain away from the house.
“I’ve got two daughters, who are now 21 and 19, but back when I build it, it was their games room.
“All their friends would come around and meet there and as they got a bit older it was meeting place for their ‘pre-drinks’ before they’d head off down town.
“Now I have a nine-year-old lad who has his friends around. They play pool and put music on.
“They have independent space where they can do what they want, but they aren’t roaming the streets.
“It’s nice to know where the kids are.
“They’ve had sleep-overs too, I think we had 16 people in there once.
“It’s not just for the kids; I did it for everyone’s benefit.
“Sue and I have people round in the summer and we can all sit out, or inside, or have a game of pool, and we have a big gas barbecue to the side on the decking.”
The man cave sits at the bottom of a long garden with the house in Mangotsfield, Bristol described by estate agents as “living the dream”.
The four-bed house also comes with a hot tub and sauna, TVs in almost every room – including the bathroom – and a projector screen for films.
It has three bathrooms – each with under-floor heating – a lounge with wood burner and an open-plan cooking and eating outdoor space.
The property is on the market with Connells for offers over £425,000.
