Carol Vorderman was counting back the years at the opening of an exhibit in a space age black, white and silver dress designed to make the star look thinner.
The ‘Countdown’ stunner went for a ‘side-panelled’ ensemble with silver blocks and black stripes woven around a figure-hugging frock in a bid to look as trim as possible.
The dress featured a vertical black stripe descending from a V-neck all the way to the hem to make the eye focus on vertical length instead of width.
In addition silver panels placed strategically at the sides of Vorderman’s garment created the illusion that the star’s waist was inches smaller.
The ‘side-panelled’ dress has become popular among stars hoping to fool the eye and appear thinner.
The effect is created by having a light central core of colour on the garment framed between two darker panels, to give the appearance that the waist falls away at the sides.
Vorderman paired the ensemble with a pair of grey knee-high heeled boots.
She appeared in Bristol to open the new Amphipod breeding centre at the city’s Zoo with her mother Jean.
The centre will support endangered species of frog and focus on a captive breeding program to prevent extinction.
