A young singer who posted videos on YouTube of her belting out tracks in her living room is on the verge of signing a recording deal with a major American label.
Pretty Beccy May Cooper, 20, was talent-spotted by U.S. music executives and whisked off to New York after they watched clips of her covering songs like Alexandra Burke’s Hallelujah.
And Beccy, who is now working with a songwriter who wrote tracks for Craig David and Joss Stone, has gigs lined up in New Jersey and Miami.
Yesterday she said: ”We are going to record and album and they are going to give me a complete make-over.
”Then we are going to record videos to go with the songs. After that I’m performing at the two gigs where hopefully I will be signed to a record company.”
Beccy, of Stour Provost, Dorset, whose idols are Mariah Carey and Beyonce Knowles, has previous experience of performing in front of crowds.
She was a backing singer for Peter Andre when he turned on the Christmas lights at Yate shopping centre in north Bristol.
Beccy added: ”I have been singing since my 13th birthday and so hopefully this is my big break.”
Her mum Diane Cooper said: ”I am so proud of her for doing this. We are all just praying she gets a recording deal.”
