Woman turned into an “animal” and beat boyfriend up

A 21-year-old woman who rowed with her boyfriend during a night out turned into an ”animal” and beat him up, a court heard.

Angry Hannah Lakeman was arguing with her partner of five years when she began to kick, punch, slap, scratch and bite him.

The couple had began rowing about a mobile phone when she suddenly attacked him in the street in front of crowds of horrified revellers.

They had just stepped out of a cab when she screamed and punched him twice in the face, scratched him and bit his shoulder.

Lakeman then started slapping and punching the unnamed man and finally grabbed his head and bit his nose.

Her boyfriend was left with injuries across his body and he has since suffered confidence and sleeping problems, a court heard.

Lakeman, of Plymouth, Devon, pleading guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm on April 3 and given a community order with a six-month curfew from 8pm to 7am.

Judge Francis Gilbert QC told her at Plymouth Crown Court: ”You are 21 and have an extremely violent temper.

”You are at risk of causing someone a really serious injury and going to prison for a long time.”

One witness told police: ”It was extreme violence; she went completely mad – it was animal-like behaviour. He was just defending himself and trying to reason with her.”
