A woman who was once obese has been rejected for cosmetic surgery to remove excess skin – despite losing over eight stone in 19 months.
Donna Comrie tipped the scales at a whopping 20st 9Ibs after gorging on packets of crisps, biscuits and takeaways.
The 46-year-old’s weight spiralled out of control as a result of a trauma she experienced when she was younger and got even worse when she started to comfort eat.
But despite this happening, Donna from Buckhaven, Fife, has managed to shed a remarkable eight and a half stone leaving her at a staggering 12st 2Ibs.

However, due to the dramatic weight loss, she went to her general medical practice to seek cosmetic surgery to remove her excess skin especially her “bingo wings”.
But doctors will not refer the mum-of-four for surgery because her body mass index is “too high”.
Donna says she has no choice but to lose more weight in order to get her dream surgery.
She said: “Well I have lost so much weight and I have done it all on my own. If I didn’t feel so bad about my bingo wings I would be happy with were I am.
“When I spoke to my GP about it, I was told that I had to lose more weight because my BMI is too high. Apparently, it has to be 27 or half your original BMI.
“However, at the moment my BMI is 28.6 so they will not refer me. I’m left with no choice but to try and lose more weight.
“It’s just so annoying.”

Donna says she has always been overweight since her childhood and she was bullied over it.
But she decided enough was enough when she saw a picture of herself she hated at her daughter’s graduation in 2016.
She joined her local Slimming World group in October 2016 and has not looked back since as she has gone from wearing a size 24/26 to a size 12 in dress sizes.
Donna no longer gets tired and she feels full of life.
She added: “I’m a different person. Since joining Slimming World, I have been walking and running three times a week.
“Also to try and reach my recommended BMI, I have joined the gym and I do swimming every second day. It’s a lot of hard work and you have to try and find balance.”

Donna’s husband, David, 45, has been her support system throughout her weight loss journey.
David explained: “Her slimming world class see her as an example and she has gained the slimmer of the year award.
“I am so proud to the moon and back. It’s better for her health. I could not be so much happier, she is absolutely stunning, she looks great.
“It’s just devastating to see the NHS won’t allow the surgery. It’s ridiculous. They can help you lose weight by putting a gastric band but they can’t give cosmetic surgery.
“I hate seeing her being so self-conscious about her bingo wings.”
