A young woman who suffered stomach ache following a meal was stunned when she went to hospital – and gave BIRTH.
Shocked Lucy Roper, 22, had no idea she was pregnant until her waters broke after going for dinner with her parents on Saturday.
She then went into a 17-hour labour at North Devon District Hospital, where she gave birth to healthy 6lbs 7oz daughter Gracie-Anne.
Lucy, of Barnstaple, Devon, said: ”I had been out to dinner with my parents, came back and had a bit of a pain so I lay down on the sofa.
”The next thing I knew my waters had broken and we had to call an ambulance.”
Her boyfriend, stunned new dad Robin Bearman, 20, said: ”Gracie-Anne is such a little blessing.
”As soon as I saw her, and the first time she opened her eyes, I knew I never wanted to be apart from either of them again.”
Because the birth was so unexpected, the young couple had not prepared for the birth and relied on family and friends to chip in.
Lucy added: ”We had nothing, no cot, no pushchair and no baby clothes, but everyone really rallied around.
”I didn’t put on any weight until the last month but we attributed it to natural weight gain.
”Looking back I was a bit ill and quite tired but she didn’t move much at all. She was quite a still baby.”
