Police appealed for help yesterday to identify a woman who battered a cash machine nearly 50 times – with her stiletto heeled shoe.
The woman rendered the machine useless in the frenzied attack just after midnight on July 2 in Chippenham, Wilts.
She stood at the Barclays cashpoint in the town’s Market Place for several minutes before removing her shoe and attacking it.
The woman struck both the key pad and the screen, leaving it completely disabled.
It is not known what prompted the attack and police have not revealed whether she withdrew any money or if her card was swallowed by the device.
Detective Constable Richard Gardner from Wiltshire Police said: ”This was a completely senseless and inane act which caused sufficient damage to make the machine unusable for other customers.
”I would like to hear from anyone who recognises the woman shown in the CCTV or who has any information in relation to this incident.”
