Wheelchair-ready car supplier Sirus Automotive today announced that is has received financial backing from business investors Advent Partners.
The firm sells cars that have been converted and adapted to allow wheelchairs to ride in from the back and also access the front passenger seat.
But they say vehicle design for wheelchairs has ‘remained static’ and they want to push forward the boundaries of how cars can be improved.
Sirus Automotive, based in Wednesbury, West Mids., has now received an injection of capital from private equity from Advent Partners, which is run by David Gee and Andrew Ramsbottom.
Sirus Managing Director Simon Pearson said: ‘The investment from Advent Partners couldn’t have come at a better time for Sirus. Wheelchair accessible vehicle design has remained static for some time and we want to change this.
‘Our aim is to put the customer back in control and create a true buying experience backed by brand quality and aftercare service.
‘We are investing heavily in new technology to enable us to research, design and deliver state of-the-art vehicles that will change people’s lives.’
Sirus Automotive was established in 2005 and operates from 3,000 sq.ft premises including a dedicated composites shop. The award-winning company now in its 10th year has built a reputation for its innovative drive-from wheelchair and passenger up-front conversions.
The team are dedicated to developing and manufacturing high end vehicles for private customers, Motability and recently has entered into the commercial vehicle market securing contracts for several major blue chip companies.
Private investment Advent Partners will also see founders David and Andrew add their business and management experience to the firm, without ‘interfering’ with day-to-day running.
The pair uses their experience of operational, financial and commercial experience to invest personal funds in small and medium enterprises across the Midlands supporting companies with new management approaches, driving change and delivering success.
Andrew said: ‘Our role is not to interfere with the day to day management of the company but to help unlock the potential and maximise any future development. The team here have worked hard to build a very successful business – we are here to help drive the change forward to make the most out of our investment.’
