This is the bizarre moment police chased down eight suspected crooks as they tried to flee across a park – by hitching a lift in the back of a gardener’s truck.
Bodycam footage shows the two officers perched on a shopping trolley which is in the back of the flatbed van as it speeds across the grass in pursuit of the thieves.
One cop is heard radioing a colleague in a patrol car near the park in Sheldon, Birmingham, saying: “They’re going round the park.
“If you can see us we’re in a council van. We’re on the back of a council van, can you guide us in.”

The chase video was tweeted by West Midlands Police officers with the Birmingham East Response unit on Monday (9/7) who simply wrote: “This is how we do it.”
A total of eight people were arrested on suspicion of carrying out a series of raids, including a burglary at a catholic school which saw a statue of the Virgin Mary
beheaded.
Twitter users have shown their appreciation for the officer’s dramatic efforts.
Nigel Godden tweeted: “Top work guys thank you.”
Another twitter user, Matthew Bowater said: “Absolutely fantastic.”
Meanwhile Facebook user Janet Fenton wrote: “Now that’s how you keep lawn and order. No doubt they got their info from a ‘grass’.”
