Today’s damning report reveals the nursery where paedophile Vanessa George carried out a series of horrific sex attacks on young children ”provided an ideal environment” for her to abuse.
The whole case sent shivers down the spines of parents across the country – with vile George jailed indefinitely.
Here’s the terrifying time line of events:
September, 2008 – Colin Blanchard meets Vanessa George through Facebook.
April 21, 2009 – Angela Allen emails Blanchard a picture of her sexually abusing a baby girl.
April 22 – George sends email to Blanchard of her sexually abusing children.
June 5 – Police contacted by Blanchard’s business partner after indecent pictures found on work computer.
June 6 – Blanchard arrested at Manchester airport after business trip to Dubai
June 8 – He identified ‘Vee George’ as the person who sent him the photographs.
June 8 – Midnight raid on Vanessa George’s home in Plymouth, Devon.
June 9 – Little Ted’s Day Nursery – which has 64 pupils aged from two to eleven – closed.
June 9 – Police and social workers hold meeting for parents of children at Little Ted’s Day Nursery.
June 10/11 – George is charged and appears at Plymouth Magistrate’s Court. More than 100 people protest outside.
June 12 – Child services order a Serious Case Review
June 16 – Pictures and messages from ‘Ang Bank’ found on Blanchard’s computer. She is identified as Angela Allen.
June 17 – Police raid her home and arrest Allen and two other men, who were later released without charge.
July 27 – All three appear at Bristol Crown Court, but no pleas entered.
October 1 – Trio plead guilty to 38 counts of child abuse at Bristol Crown Court.
December 15 – George and Allen both given indeterminate sentences at Bristol Crown Court for their crimes.
March 5 2010, Tracy Lyons, from Portsmouth, pleads guilty to six charges
October 4 2010 Tracy Dawber, 44, of Southport, Merseyside, denies six charges but is convicted on October 18.
Lyons, Dawber and Blanchard are to be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court later this month (Nov).
THE PERPETRATORS
Vanessa George, 39, of the Efford area of Plymouth, Devon.
George has been married to husband Andrew, an engineer for a catering firm, since 1993 and they have daughters Pearl, 14, and Grace 15.
She started work at Little Ted’s Day Nursery in September 2006 and is thought to have spent ten years working with children. She has also worked as a secretary.
George has an NVQ level two in childcare and babysat for local people in the area, although there is no evidence she abused the children.
She had no previous convictions and had passed a CRB check prior to taking a job at the nursery.
George is an only child. Her mother Sylvia died of breast cancer in 1985 and her father Roger says he has not spoken to her since she was a child.

Colin Blanchard, 38, of Littleborough, near Rochdale, Lancs. Married father-of-one born in Liverpool to working class parents.
Blanchard was given a police caution and ordered to sign the sex offender’s register for five years in 2002 for possession of indecent images of children.
He has been married for sixteen years and has a five-year-old daughter who attends a private school.
Blanchard was one of two partners in a successful IT company in Manchester which has since moved and re-branded, and had a ”comfortable” middle-class lifestyle.

Count 29: Taking indecent photographs of a child. On May 17 2009 took an indecent photograph of a child categorised as level 1.
Count 30: Taking indecent photographs of a child. On May 17 2009 took an indecent photograph of a child categorised as level 1.
Count 31: Taking indecent photographs of a child. On May 17 2009 took an indecent photograph of a child categorised as level 4.
Count 32: Distributing indecent photographs of a child. Between May 16 and June 7 2009 distributed five indecent photographs of a child categorised as levels 1, 3, and 4.
Count 34: Making indecent photographs of a child. On May 19 made an indecent photograph of a child categorised as level 5.
A separate offence of possession of extreme pornographic images, contrary to section 63 of the criminal justice and immigration act 2008. Between December 29 2008 and June 7 2009 had in his possession six extreme pornographic images which portrayed, in an explicit and realistic way, a person performing oral sex with a live animal, namely a dog, and which were grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character.
Angela Allen, 39, from Bulwell, Nottingham
Police described Allen as a ”truly sinister and evil” woman who lived ”on the fringes of society” in a run down house with no furniture.
The single unemployed mum-of-one used the title ‘Ang Bank’ as her internet username.
She was the ”most graphic” of the three and used her phone and computer to talk about sex with animals and fantasies of men raping children.
Following her arrest officers say they were ”stunned” how casual she was in interview and say she ”never shed one tear or showed any sign of remorse.”
She had a previous spent conviction for a minor unrelated offence and was not known to the local social services.
Officers say despite the risks of the material she sent and received she did nothing to hide her tracks, delete images or destroy the information.

Count 2: Assault of a child under 13 by penetration. Between September 2008 and June 17 2009 intentionally penetrated the vagina of a girl under the age of 13, namely three years of age, with a penis shaped lollypop
Count 3: Assault of a child under 13 by penetration. Between September 2008 and June 17 2009 intentionally penetrated the vagina of a girl under the age of 13, namely three years of age, with a metal object
Count 4: Sexual assault of a child under 13. Between September 2008 and June 17 2009 intentionally touched a girl under 13 and the touching was sexual.
Count 5: Distributing indecent photographs of children. On March 7 distributed two indecent photographs of children levels one and four.
