George Rhodes pictured during WW2. See SWNS story SWWAR; Two pensioner neighbours have discovered they were both part of the same mission in WW2 – with one dropping a bomb so the other could storm a Nazi railway yard. Brave George Rhodes, 99, and Graham Brown, 93, live in the same block of flats but have only just discovered one helped the other in an Allied mission. They were chatting one day and found they were actually involved in the same bombing operation over a railway site in Graz, Austria in June 1945. Before George and his fellow army soldiers entered the yard the Royal Air Force were called to drop bombs to clear their way.
