Diver Tom Daley has hit back at critics who claimed he wasn’t committed to the sport – after winning his fourth British Championships title.
Tom was accused of not concentrating on diving and spending too much time on non work commitments – including TV show Splash!
But he was back to his best during Sunday’s championships in Plymouth, Devon – winning the 10m platform title.
The Olympic bronze medallist won the contest with 501 points – 125 clear of second placed James Denny.
Daley, whose ITV1 celebrity diving show Splash! attracted 5.4million viewers, said he hoped the resounding win would silence his critics.
He said: “If this doesn’t, I don’t know what would. To go into the British Championships and win by more than 100 points proves just how hard I’ve been working.
”It’s going to be a busy 2013, as I’ll be joining the World Series in April, then it’s the European Championships and the World Championships.
“It would be a challenge to get my world title back. it’s going to be tough as there are some amazing divers out there.”
