These are the horrific injuries suffered by a man who was stabbed 28 times by two thugs – and needed TWO THOUSAND stitches.
Traumatised James Jones, 24, nearly bled to death from his horrific injuries, which the sentencing judge branded the worst he had ever seen.
He was attacked by former friends Richard Lindsey, 32, (left) and James Steele, 20, (right) who broke into his home in Brixham, Devon, and launched a ”murderous” assault in April last year.
James, who was asleep on the sofa, thought he had been woken by the sound of milkmen visiting his home in the early hours.
But the pair stormed into his house carrying large knives and slashed him all over his body in a two-minute ”frenzy” over an unpaid debt.
Lindsey and Steele left him with horrific wounds on his back and buttocks, together with a ‘punishment scar’ on his face.
An on Monday at Exeter Crown Court the pair were jailed for a total of 14 years after they were found guilty of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm with intent and inflicting GBH with intent.
Judge Phillip Wassall said: ”The wounds were the most extensive knife injuries I’ve ever seen in my experience on a human being who survived the attack.
”This was a murderous attack on him in the way it was executed if not in terms of what was intended.”
The pair stormed into Jamie’s flat on April 9 because Jones owed Lindsey money and the attackers wanted to ”send an advert” to others that they should not be messed with.
They left him with huge gashes across his back and buttocks as James desperately tried to stop the blood ”spurting from his veins” onto the walls of his house.
He was eventually taken to hospital where doctors said he had lost so much blood he ”died twice” on the operating table.
The pair were later arrested and Lindsey was convicted following a six week trial in June.
He was jailed for six years after being found guilty of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm with intent and inflicting GBH with intent.
Steele, a former soldier, earlier pleaded guilty to the same offences and was sentenced to eight years.
Judge Wassall added: ”You, Lindsey, had let it be known you were looking for Mr Jones and were going to injure him. He was scared and went to ground away from his usual haunts.
”It was you leading the operation to find him and to injure him, probably not only motivated by your wish to raise your standing as someone not to be messed with but to be sure the gang masters got their money.”
Pavlos Panayi (dbl corr), mitigating, said the pair had inhabited a ”twilight world” of drugs and violence but were now on the ”road to redemption”.
A third man, Gary O’Connor, who was given six years for his part in the crime, claimed he ”had no idea” the attack would be so vicious and had only been used to get rid of the car.
