Clare Beams and Paul Jones are a perfect match – first he offered her his heart and then he saved her life by donating half his liver. For when the healthcare assistant was told she needed an urgent transplant her sweetheart didn’t hesitate in putting himself forward as a donor. Tests showed he was a match and months later they both went under the knife at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Edgbaston, where half of Paul’s liver was transplanted into Clare, 24. Now the couple are looking forward to an extra-special Valentine’s Day before they get married in September in their home town of Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.
