Dragons’ Den star Peter Jones made a dying 11-year-old boy’s last wish come true – a ride in a £1 million Bugatti Veyron.
Tragic Byron Parsons-Lloyd fulfilled his dream of a passenger’s ride in one of the world’s fastest and most expensive supercar.
Byron was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour last year and has just weeks to live.
But he was living the dream when luxury car dealer Tom Hartley took him for a spin in the 253mph motor.
Despite feeling very sick, he managed to say: ”I can’t believe it, this is amazing.”
Peter Jones stepped in to help brave Byron realise his dying wish to have a go in the mega-fast motor after he was contacted on his Twitter account.
The 44-year-old tycoon – worth an estimated £220million – dug out his phone book and even asked X Factor boss Simon Cowell to lend Byron his car for the day.
The X Factor boss agreed but his own Bugatti was in LA so Peter Jones contacted car dealer Tom Hartley who offered to let Byron have full use of his fleet of luxury supercars last Friday.
Tom Hartley sent his own chauffeur in the new Audi A8 to collect Byron and his family from their home in Wednesbury, West Mids., and drove him to the car showroom in Swadlincote, Derbys.
Byron, who has less than three months to live after being diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour, spent an hour being driven around in the top-of-the-range motors.
After taking Byron for a spin, Tom Hartley said: ”It’s very humbling to think you can do something for a boy in this condition.
”Byron was very subdued. We stuck to the 70mph speed limit but he loved the ride as well as seeing all the cars we have here.
”It is an absolute privilege to have been involved in this.”
A spokesperson for Peter Jones said: ”Peter was touched by Byron’s story. He made some calls and he was just pleased that he and many others could help Byron.”
The lad told his mum his final wish was to ride in a £1 million Bugatti Veyron after seeing the car tested on Top Gear.
Mum Claire, 33, told her friends about Byron’s dream and was stunned when the Dragons Den star agreed to help.
She said: ”I’m so happy – today has been very special.
”Byron is very ill and doesn’t have long left but he was thrilled.
”He loves cars and has loads of toy ones and he watches Top Gear religiously.
”He said to me, ‘Mum I’d love to have a go in a Bugatti’ and I promised I’d do what I could but never imagined for a second we could do it.
”It’s amazing. It’s all happened so fast, we’re bowled over by the reaction.”
Byron had a tennis-sized tumour removed from his brain last January but the cancer returned in October and doctors said it was too aggressive to treat.
His devastated parents, Claire and Craig, 35, were told he has between 12-16 weeks to live.
The couple, along with their two other children Liam, 15, and Chelsea, 13, have decided to make Byron’s final weeks ”the most special time ever”.
Claire added: ”It’s been a terrible time for everyone but we all want to make Byron happy.”
