Five teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was battered to death in front of his wife while walking home from a pub.
Nigel Shakespear, 50, died of multiple head injuries after he was set upon by the yobs when he left the King Arms pub in Redditch, Worcs., at 12.30am on Sunday.
Police arrested five teenage boys shortly after Mr Shakespear was pronounced dead at University Hospital in Coventry having been transferred from the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

He had fallen to the ground during the assault in Sillins Avenue, Lakeside, and hit his head.
Yesterday police continued to quiz three boys aged 17, one aged 16 and another aged 18, all from Redditch.
Detective Inspector Adam Hartwright, of West Mercia Police, said: “We are still appealing to the public to come forward if they have any information about this incident.
“We have had a good response so far and we are piecing together what happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.
“Officers are carrying out house to house inquiries and local police patrols have been stepped up in the Lakeside area of Redditch.
“We would remind residents that this type of crime is rare in the town and we are working hard to get to the bottom of what happened at the weekend.”
