A 14-year-old boy had his teeth knocked out by a fuming cabbie – after the teenager’s pal threw an EGG at his taxi.
Mason Taylor said the incensed driver chased him in his vehicle and ran him over before getting out and punching him in the face.
The terrified schoolboy’s front two teeth “snapped” and he was knocked out by the thug driver, who then sped away at around 5.25pm on Saturday (10/12).
Mason ran to a friend’s home covered in blood and told his parents, Gary, 50, and Lorraine, 44, who rushed him to Royal Stoke University Hospital.
He is currently undergoing extensive dental surgery and is missing his last two weeks at school before Christmas.
Dad-of-two Gary is now appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack in Bentilee, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs., to come forward.
Today Gary, who lives with Lorraine, a garden centre shop assistant, said: “It wasn’t my son who threw the egg.
“There were four or five of them and a lad on the other side of the road threw it, I don’t know why.
“The driver made like he was carrying on driving, then mounted the curb behind my son and ran him over.
“He then got out and smacked him in the face, rendering him unconscious before driving off.”
The youngster went to a nearby friend’s home before being taken to his auntie who called Mason’s parents.
Gary, who is unemployed while undergoing chemotherapy for arthritis, added: “When I saw him I broke down, I felt so helpless.
“I can’t understand how a man could hit a boy like that. It’s absolutely horrible.
“We couldn’t send him to school the way he is, it has really knocked his confidence.
“If anyone has any information, or has any CCTV of that area, please come forward to help catch the man responsible.
“I just want to know if he has a conscience? How can you do that to a child, even if he thought he had thrown an egg?
“He needs to be caught.
“Mason is going to be left dealing with this for a long time now.
“He’s still growing so he will need more operations as his bone structure changes.
“He’ll pay paying out dental bills for this rest of his life because of this man.”
Mason said he was brutally attacked by the angry driver after he was knocked down in the vehicle and cornered.
He added: “The taxi chased me, came up on the pathway and knocked me over.
“Then he cornered me and just hit me. My two front teeth snapped. My mouth was bleeding.
“I feel angry and upset. I’m in a lot of pain and I feel embarrassed I’ve lost my teeth.
“I know he shouldn’t have thrown the egg, but the driver shouldn’t have hit me. I hope he gets caught.”
Staffordshire Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward following the incident at the junction of Dividy Road and Calvary Crescent.
A force spokesman said: “The incident happened between 5pm and 5.15pm when a 14-year-old boy was assaulted by a motorist.
“The boy was taken to hospital where he received treatment for facial injuries.
“An investigation into the assault is ongoing and witnesses are urged to come forward.
“As part of their inquiries officers are also investigating suspected anti-social behaviour in the area at the time.
“There are still a number of people that have not yet been spoken to in relation to the incident and the investigation into this matter is continuing to ascertain the circumstances.
“We are unable to confirm any details at this stage of the investigation.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 558 of December 10.
