Take That’s reunion single with Robbie Williams is set to be kept off the number one spot – by two minutes of silence.
The ‘manband’ release The Flood on Sunday 7th November but bookies are backing ‘2 Minute Silence’ by the Royal British Legion (RBL) to pip the pop stars to the post.
The RBL ‘track’ is backed by a video featuring celebrities like Jimmy Carr, David Tennant, Bryan Ferry, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Andy Murray.
David Beckham has pledged his support to the cause by mentioning it on his Facebook page.
Today a spokesman for Ladbrokes said: ”We’re backing ‘2 Minute Silence’ to claim the top spot on Remembrance Sunday and we’re offering odds of 4/9.
”The Legion has got the support of some of the UK’s top celebrity names and we think the British public will really take this single to heart.”
It’s another blow for Take That, who recently announced they were bringing forward the release date of their album Progress to avoid a clash with younger rivals JLS.
All proceeds from sales of the ‘2 Minute Silence’ single, available for download from iTunes from 7th November, will go towards helping members of the armed forces community, including Paul McClintock, who features in the video.
Paul, a former Rifleman with 1st Battalion The Royal Green Jackets, badly injured his back in a training exercise and receives support from The Legion.
Back The Legion by pre-ordering your copy of the ‘2 Minute Silence’ single today from the official Facebook group.
Otherwise you can download the single from iTunes from 7th November.

and im an Oasis fan, not “Pestlife” fan you w**ker!
a bunch of washed up has-beens are Take That, esp. Williams! can’t stand the guy!
bounce, losers! whey sold 1.34 million tickets for their 2011 tour and tbh you have your opinion on music and others have theirs you dont like take that but it doesnt give you the right to slag them off its just the same if someone slags oasis off keep your opinions to yourself
it’s called “freedom of thespeech”, Ally so everyone is allowed to their opinion!
bounce, losers! Take That are back to beat all Oasis records. They already achieved one- “the biggest and fastest selling tour in British history’, next one- they’re aiming to beat “Be Here Now’ as biggest opening week sales with their new album “Progress”. Take That ARE the biggest band in the Uk not Oasis. Who would have thought it back in 90s?
hey, joker! the biggest band in the UK are and always will be The Beatles! 🙂
Nothing to stop people buying a poppy to wear to show public support AND download the video. Not sure about the ITunes version but the £1 for the video goes to the Poppy Appeal if it’s downloaded from the RBL site.
If anybody’s the has been it’s Beckham, he’ll never play another World Cup with England again, or play for any decent club, I guess he’s got to do something with his time.
This won’t be the only charity single for rememberance Sunday, there’s usually a glut of them, just buy a poppy and give to the British legion would be a better way to show support.
