X Factor’s Simon Cowell has promised to release details about the hotly-anticipated US version of the show within “two weeks”, and also fuelled speculation that he may quit the British show.
Despite rumours surrounding the judging panel line up going in to overdrive, Cowell remained tight-lipped and insisted that nothing has been confirmed.
He said: “We are going to make an announcement soon. We have to make sure all the shows will be back bigger, better, stronger, different. No one has been contracted yet, apart from me.”
Refusing to deny Louis Walsh’s claims that only he and Danni would be returning to the judges’ seats, he continued: “They haven’t been given a contract yet. We are in the process of going through all the shows.
“I think there are going to be a few surprises. I genuinely do. I don’t think there’s one way of doing it. I am currently in conversations with ITV and Fox.
“The most important thing is to make a commitment to the people who watch the shows and make sure they are better than last year’s.”
Speculation over the US version of the show has reached fever pitch, with Cheryl Cole, George Michael, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Nicole Scherzinger and even Mick Jagger all rumoured to have been offered roles as judges.
