Police searching for Sian O’Callaghan today asked for members of the public to stop flocking to the Savernake Forest – after 400 turned up to help with the search.
Two 49-seater coaches full of helpers from Swindon arrived at Savernake at 3pm to bolster the operation.
Cars also continued to stream into the woodland and volunteers were split into smaller groups.
Each were led away to scour new areas by experienced search and rescue leaders from Wiltshire and Dorset.
Meanwhile, police made their own roadside searches of the A346 Swindon to Marlborough road to look for Sian’s bag, phone or personal belongings.
They later appealed for no more people to come to the site yesterday, but welcomed people to return tomorrow.
Chief Inspector Nick John from Wiltshire Police indicated organised searches led by the force and search and rescue teams would continue tomorrow for the public.
He thanked the 400 volunteers who had helped so far.
”Thank you to everyone who has come out to help today, we really do appreciate all the assistance,” he said.
”We are still very concerned about Sian O’Callaghan and our investigation continues.
”We must remind everyone involved in the searches should you find anything that you think is important please do not touch it.
”Leave it where it is and contact a police officer.
”I would also like to re-iterate our appeal for any information regarding Sian. Should you have any information please do not hesitate to contact Police.”

I think at least during the nights women, or men for that matter should not walk on the streets. Have you ever watched cops and their body language. They are always alert !! Get some training in martial arts. I am so sorry for the poor girl !
