A schoolboy has become the youngest person ever to climb the highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland – aged EIGHT.
Plucky Max Barry began his epic journey three years ago when he scaled the 3,560ft-high (1,085m) Mount Snowdon with dad Jon.
In 2012 he reached the top of the highest peak in England, Scafell Pike, which measures 3,209ft (978m).
And now Max has climbed the Scottish mountain Ben Nevis, the highest point in the British Isles at 4,409ft (1,344m), with dad Jon and mum Fiona.
The schoolboy, of Waldingham, Surrey, said: “It’s really fun. When I reached the top of Ben Nevis, I was really tired, but I was so happy that my tiredness went away.
“My friends don’t really know what I’ve done, but they were impressed when they realised I’ve been to the top of England, Wales and Scotland.”
He added: “I want to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. I think it will be a great achievement. But I don’t want to do it yet. I don’t think I’m ready. I’ll climb it when I’m ten.”
Company director Jon, 46, said: “I’m so proud of him. He’s braved all sorts of terrible British weather but he’s always got a smile on his face.”
