These new pictures of murdered British backpacker Sarah Groves shows the pretty youngster working as a model in her local beauty salon.

Tragic Sarah, 24, was found dead on a houseboat in India after apparent being stabbed more than 40 times.

She died in Kashmir while travelling in the country and Dutch tourist Richard de Wit, 43, was arrested 45 miles away and is said to have confessed.

Today photographs emerged of attractive Sarah working as a test model in The Beauty Box salon near her home in St Peter Port on Guernsey.

Tributes were also being paid to the “angel” with a “massive heart” and more than 5,000 people joined a Facebook page dedicated in her memory.

A large black-and-white artwork she made using felt-tip pen has been put up in The Townhouse bar where she worked before she left for India.

Owner Sam Jarrold said Sarah created the piece while she attended the Chelsea College of Art and Design.

He said: “She was incredibly bubbly and always came to work with a smile. There is not a bad word to say about Sarah.”

Richard Phibbs, who also worked with her, said: “She had a massive heart and would share this with everyone she knew, a magnificent person.

“She had upped her roots from Guernsey to travel the world and find herself, always seeking to change the lives which needed a helping hand to help them out.

“In her time working with us she was an angel, had a positive feel and view on everything and anything. She had amazing talent.”

It is understood Miss Groves had been staying on the houseboat owned by her boyfriend’s family on the Dal Lake in Srinagar for two months before she was killed.

Her family were too devastated to talk about the death yesterday but it is understood her parents have flown to Kashmir.

One of her brothers, Tom, has written a blog ”Justice for Sarah” in which he calls on the UK Government to ensure that her death is investigated properly.

He wrote: ”I hope that you will join me in sending a message to these people that, firstly, this must be fully investigated and, secondly, this is not the appropriate time for government spin.

“I realise that I risk sounding like yet another grieving relative here, but please, please, think if this was your sister or daughter, you’d want justice. She deserved it – she lit up so many people’s lives.”

There are reports that police are investigating whether there was a sexual motive behind the attack.

Guernsey Police has confirmed it had received information from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and was liaising with the relevant overseas authorities.

On the Facebook tribute site, one friend wrote: ”An angel in my life, so fun, funny, joyful, positive, beautiful, and full of laughter,

“I love her cackle which could be heard from miles away and made everybody laugh and smile, was the essence of happiness in the room and atmosphere.

“I love the way she would always look like a goddess, a bird and all her feathers with a gentle touch and soft words soothing to everyone’s needs.”

Another added: ”Very sad news, another precious Angel gone to heaven, God bless Sarah my thoughts are with the family xx”.

Sarah was the daughter of businessman Vic Groves, attended St Mary’s College, a boarding school in the UK, before she went to university to study art and design.

She had also worked as a fitness instructor, as well as Clydesdale Bank and The Townhouse in St Peter Port.

Having completed her bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, she also took on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro last year, raising more than £3,000 for Childreach International.
