Pupils at a secondary school got some satisfaction after being taught a surprise music lesson – by rock legend Ronnie Wood.
The Rolling Stone stunned teachers and students at Malcolm Arnold Academy school, in Northampton, when he turned up to give a guitar masterclass on Wednesday.
He chatted to pupils about his illustrious career before giving a guitar tutorial and declaring: “I’d rather be here than at the Brits.”

The rock icon’s appearance came after the school’s sponsor David Ross won a guitar lesson with him at a charity auction.
The newlywed 65-year-old also sensationally revealed that at the same auction he successfully bid for a DATE with American actress Scarlett Johansson.
During the three-hour visit Ronnie also talked about life in the 60’s with the Stones, how he learnt to play guitar and posed for pictures for some A level students to use in their art project.
He said afterwards: “I really enjoyed it. The questions the students asked me were very inventive and thoughtful and I spoke to them about my career.

“The school looks pretty good, I wouldn’t mind turning the clock back and coming here myself.
“My first marriage was actually in a registry office in Northampton and Rod Stewart was my best man.
“I have in-laws here too as my wife’s sister lives in the town and we are going to have a cup of tea with her.
“I also won a date with Scarlett Johansson at the same auction but it hasn’t come to fruition yet as she has been too busy filming.
“I chose to come here instead of going to the Brits as there is too much pressure getting over to the O2.”
Philip Cantwell, headteacher of Malcolm Arnold Academy, said: “It was a great day and one that no one will forget in a hurry.
“We are a music specialist school and we regularly bring in high quality characters from the music world.
“We’ve even had Nick Mason from Pink Floyd in the past.”
Ethan Harvey, 17, one of the students who met Ronnie, added: “It was really inspiring to talk to him.
“He was really genuine and down to earth.”
Just hours after the appearance Ronnie became a grandfather after his son Jesse and girlfriend Fearne Cotton celebrated the birth of a boy this morning.
