An art student has used her skills to create a set of mind-boggling puzzles – all based on the word ‘and’.
Each image by Alice Keegan, 23, depicts a well-known ‘and’ phrase of two objects commonly paired together such as ‘sticks and stones’ or ‘day and night’.
Alice has used a series of symbols, signs and a variety of household items and bits of food to create her eleven puzzles.

Each one represents a famous ‘and’ saying – which can be worked out by studying the image.
Some of the pictures are based on the word ‘and’ spelt out, whereas others use the ampersand.
Alice, of Frome, Somerset, said her colourful puzzles were inspired by her love of words.

They now form part of her final year project for her graphic design degree.
She said: ”The fun lies in trying to work out what phrase is being linked to in each image.
”People will guess some of the phrases straightaway, others take a bit of time.

”I began experimenting using images to convey words and phrases.
”Then one of my tutors asked whether I could use pictures or objects to spell a really non-descriptive word. That’s how I hit upon ‘and’.”
Alice now has a website where other people can post their artistic take on the word.
